Frank McDonald Memorial Golf Classic to benefit United Way

sponsored by Chattanooga Times Free Press,  BI-LO and Coca-Cola, first began as the United Way Classic in 1998. The tournament is now named to honor the memory of the late Chattanooga Times Free Press President who passed away in 2001.

Frank McDonald was a tireless supporter of United Way of Greater Chattanooga, serving as campaign chair, board chair and as chair of the endowment committee. As one of the principal founders of the United Way Golf Classic, naming it in his honor is a fitting tribute to such a devoted friend of United Way of Greater Chattanooga.

An artistic tribute...

The logo for the Frank McDonald Memorial Golf Classic was created by Bruce Plante, editorial cartoonist for the Chattanooga Times Free Press. The guitar and hat are a tribute to Frank's many years as the leader of the nationally renowned bluegrass group, The Dismembered Tennesseans.  They rest against The Honor's course loving cup, representing the new home of the Classic.
